During Black Friday/Cyber Monday mania I ordered a stack of beautiful Kiss My Sass Cosmetic’s eye shadows + a blush. You might remember that KMS was on my autumn wish list, so finally my wish came true. It was really hard to pick out the shadows as they are all so beautifu, but some of them were out of stock which kind of made it easier to choose.
The package arrived very fast – after only 10 days, and along with my order, I got two eye shadow samples, a sample of lip glaze and a handwritten note (the part that always makes me happier than the samples). I must add that I had slight complications while creating my account on the page but that was sorted out in a minute – another thing that I highly appreciate – excellent customer service.
So, let’s get back to products. In general, I’m very happy with all of them. They are easy to apply and most of them blend well. Some of them are not as pigmented as they appear in the jar, but when applied over eye shadow primer or white eye pencil they light up in all their glory. I can’t tell much on how long they last since I didn’t have time to wear them all properly, but I’m working on it.
Petra did such a great job taking close-ups of the eye shadows – you can see all the glitter and they are as beautiful on photos as they are in real life. On my left eye you can see the eye shadow applied on the bare eye lid, and on the right eye you can see it applied over white eye pencil (NYX in Milk).
Beach Sand is a pale nude with a pinky-peach undertone and very fine shimmer. It’s fantastic as base eye shadow, brow bone or tear duct highlighter and it looks very refreshing on the eyes.
Tea Rose is peachy pink with golden shimmer. Just like Beach Sand, it’s nice as a base color of softer daytime look, and it complements my blue eyes really well.
Luscious Mauve is light berry color and the only matte eye shadow I’ve ordered. It looks bit more pinky when applied alone, but the full color is the best seen when applied over primer or white eye pencil.
Sleepy Hollow is my favorite! It’s dark grey with copper shimmer. Warm tones of copper light up dull grey and give it that extra sparkle. It’s rather subtle when applied directly on the lid which is OK if you prefer softer tones on your eyes or during daytime. However, applied over white eye pencil it shows itself in its full glory. I wander how it’s going to look like when I apply it over black eye pencil.
Cemetery Gates is light grey with green sheen. Before I applied it I forgot it had green sheen so it pleasantly surprised me. These tiny green particles give refreshing look to “regular” light grey – a light grey with a twist, one would say. I was looking for a light grey color like this for a while and I like it a lot. Unfortunately, I don’t like how it performs without primer – it’s too light, and sheen is barely seen, so primer is a must.
Meteor is taupe with a slight pink sheen and copper sparkles. It’s my second favorite color. It’s so beautiful on the eyes, so complex. It’s cold but at the same time somehow warm. It looks nice when applied softly over bare eye lid, whereas sheen and sparkles come to their full potential when applied over primer.
Beach Babe is shimmery golden bronze – it’s a true summer/early autumn color. It’s not as pigmented as it seems to be in a jar, but it’s easy to apply and it blends well. When I look at it, it reminds me of Naked palette, as if I can imagine it being a part of it.
Firestarter is mustard yellow with a subtle coppery red sheen. When I first opened the jar I was a bit concerned because the color looked very dull. Fortunately, it was much vigorous on the lids, though I wasn’t able to really see that coppery red sheen that it’s supposed to have.
Outrageous is orange with slight golden sheen. Remember the story about my orange mania? Well, this eye shadow added a sparkle to the flame. It has just the right amount of gold to make it vivid. As Firestarter, this color also looked duller in a jar than it actually is. As you can see on the photo, the difference between the eyes is very small, and that’s the other thing I liked about this little fellow – it’s quite pigmented.
Flip Flops is green with a violet sheen and subtle aqua sparkles. I guess because of all the shimmer, I expected it to be more vibrant, but it wasn’t. Even though it’s not exactly what I expected, I liked it how it looked over white eye pencil. However, applying it over the naked eye lid was quite a hassle, since it wouldn’t spread evenly, and it was not even nearly as pigmented as it looked like.
Naughty dog is cobalt blue with pink sparkles. It was a sample I got with the order, and I must admit, I’d never ever order this color because I don’t like blue color (especially blue eye shadow). But there’s a big BUT coming up – I’m completely fascinated by this color – it’s so vivid! Fascination faded a bit when I swatched it for the first time – it was too pale, and sparkles were almost nonexisting!! Fortunately, applying it over white eye pencil saved it and I was happy to see it’s as beautiful on the eye as it is in the jar. Btw. do I have to mention this color is huge makeup hit at the moment? Grab yours before it’s gone!!
Wineberry is matte burgundy blush. It gives my cheeks that healthy, natural looking flush while it has the right amount of pink and red in it. It’s highly pigmented so I suggest you start lighter and build it up as desired. It’s easy to blend and it lasts the whole day.
Forever Love is another sample I’ve got. It’s lip glaze in red/coral color with white sparkles. It feels nice on the lips, not sticky at all, and it lasts for 1-2 hours (drinking included). I might consider trying more lip products from Kiss My Sass.
You can purchase all the above mentioned products on their site here, or on Etsy. Eye shadows come in two sizes – 1/4 teaspoon in 5g jar ($2) and full teaspoon in 5g jar ($6). Blushes come in three sizes – full Size: at least 4.8g Net Wt in a 20g jar ($12), mini size: at least 2.4g Net Wt in a 10g jar ($10) aand sample size: 1/4 teaspoon in a 5g jar ($5.50).
